About
The Nordic Dialogue on Voluntary Compensation (2021-2022) explored the voluntary use of carbon credits as part of broader efforts towards and beyond carbon neutrality. It gathered Nordic stakeholders to develop a common understanding of key issues and concepts and co-create the Nordic Code of Best Practice for the voluntary carbon market, aligned with the principles and long-term goals of the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Key results are summarised in a background report and the flagship report . The Nordic Dialogue identified a need for continued Nordic cooperation and recommended creating communities of best practices for learning-by-doing, building capacity on best practices, aligning and updating best practice guidance, and supporting the implementation of best practice.

In 2023-2024, the Nordic Dialogue’s team organised a series of capacity-building events on the key results of the Nordic Dialogue and latest international developments in best practices for the voluntary carbon market. To learn more about these events and their key takeaways, you can read the summary report and explore the blog posts and event recordings.
